Art 2: Media and Methods further explores the basic concepts that students learned in Art I: Foundational Art Workshop, with a heightened focus on compositional elements, drawing, and observation. Students will understand that drawing is the backbone of art as it allows artists to record what they see. Students will be given a solid foundation in drawing and learn how to utilize composition and drawing skills as they explore other media and materials. Students will learn that artists (illustrators, architects, painters, sculptors, designers) who are successful know to that a solid foundation of accurate and expressive drawing creates excellent pieces. Students are expected to know and understand the basic concepts and skills in art. Art 2 welcomes students who would like to gain further knowledge and skills in the visual arts. This course is also necessary to prepare students who might be interested in a career in art. Most importantly, students will learn and explore how drawing is a part of various types of art movements, media and styles; including but not limited to printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and painting. Students are expected to participate in the art room at all times, including critiques and clean up of materials.
