Art 4: Advanced Studio is an actively hands-on studio class for the serious art student. Art 4 students are expected to have some knowledge in art history and contemporary art issues as well as a wide variety of skills in various media and techniques. Projects created in Art 4 are more refined than any other art class because of students’ expected experience with media and technique. Students will be expected to utilize a range of approaches in creating their works from formal to expressive techniques. Coursework will stem from a culmination of the knowledge skills students have obtained in Foundational Art Workshop, Composition and Drawing, and Advanced Composition and Drawing. A wide variety of projects will help refine students’ skills and individual artistic styles and interests along with the ability to recognize quality within their work. A concentration in subject matter and/or theme will be emphasizes to help students find their visual voice in order to begin their artistic statements. This class will have challenging and exciting art making projects along with an in depth exploration of art history. Students are expected to participate in the art room at all times, including critiques and clean up of materials.
